tarantino mentioned in the telegraph interview, he's got the idea of making a US civil war movie about black slavery sometime. a "southern", what he calls it.
Quote: | "I want to explore something that really hasn't been done," he says. "I want to do movies that deal with America's horrible past with slavery and stuff but do them like spaghetti westerns, not like big issue movies. I want to do them like they're genre films, but they deal with everything that America has never dealt with because it's ashamed of it, and other countries don't really deal with because they don't feel they have the right to.
"But I can deal with it all right, and I'm the guy to do it. So maybe that's the next mountain waiting for me." |
why he feels to be the RIGHT GUY for this subject is probably explained by this little piece of news:
tarantino talks about his past lives
i found this a bit disturbing, but then, everyone his belief.
nevertheless, he already mentioned the idea of making a movie (he's last one?) about black slavery in an interview three years ago:
Quote: | | I’ve thought I could do a serious movie about John Brown. But that’s something I’d have to do much later. It’ll be serious but it’ll still be fun — I could make it into a cool Western. In fact, I’m thinking that it’s going to be the last movie I do. And I think I should play John Brown. I look like the guy, and I can get into his way of thinking. But to do it, I’ll have to wait until I’m like 60 – it’ll have to be my Unforgiven. Yeah, I’ve thought about it. I could do John Brown. |
this probably wan't be his next project, but could be some day he's last, great work.
we will see what time will tell. to me it sound's catchy enough, especialy the story about john brown, the leader of an anti-slavery-guerilla back then.
what do you think?

he also stated that one of his ideas for his half of Grindhouse was a story called "Jody The Grinder" about a slave who fucked all the girl slaves, and got caught fucking the master's daughter and wife. He got hung, and sent to hell, where he challenged to the devil to a wrestling match, and fucked the devil in the ass. The devil sent him back up to earth, to walk the earth for all eternity fucking white women. And then a history class visits the plantation where the ghost lives. And he said if he made it, Samuel L Jackson would star, but that it would work better as a trailer.
